Where is The Open in 2024?

As the hours of reflection on Brian Harman’s six-stroke victory at The Open 2023 draw to an end, many golf enthusiasts find their thoughts turning to next year's 152nd Open.

Hosted by the striking Scottish Royal Troon – a course that dates back as far as 1878 – what can we expect from such a historic and beautiful course?

What do you need to know about the Royal Troon?

Described as classy but not stuffy by many visiting golfers, you can expect more than a whisper of luxury at Royal Troon.

With sublime facilities and little touches like engraved bag tags for players, you won’t be disappointed.

But what about the course?

Designed in an out-and-back manner like St Andrews, the course could be contemplated in three distinct sections thanks to the rise in difficulty as you progress.

The first six holes that head out to the coast could be described as pedestrian, allowing players to build an early score and enjoy the breathtaking Scottish skies that stretch out before them.

Holes 7-12 begin to ramp up the challenge as you meander through the dunes and include the famous 8th hole, named the Postage Stamp.

The final six holes take you back to the clubhouse, but e aware it’s challenging to get there. The testing holes are generally played into the wind as the holes are more open to the South Bay of the Firth of Clyde – allowing the best of the best ball strikers to step forward and show themselves.
